Web Changes
Sorry there has been a gap in updating the site since
October 2003.
It is partly
due to moving
from
Hertfordshire
England UK to
Ceredigion
Wales UK.
And partly due
to my website
hosting company
changing
something on
the server
which did not
allow me to
update the
site.
Earth Focus is
now with
another hosting
company!
It will take me
some time to
update the
site, but
there's a lot
in it that is
timeless.
This is where we'll announce the most recent
additions to our web site. If you've visited us before and want to know what's
changed, take a look here first.

Important News
Do not holiday in Malta!
Why? If you happened to watch "Natur Anghyfreithlon - Malta" on S4C on
Monday 2nd October 2006, you would know why.
In the first episode of this brand new series, nature expert Iolo Williams
visited the Mediterranean island of Malta to investigate the country's hunting
tradition, which affects the migratory birds that fly over Malta on their way
from Northern Europe to Africa. As thousands of birds are needlessly slaughtered
every year, Iolo looks at the laughable efforts of the Maltese government to
curb the trend and explains what we can do to help the situation:
Do not go to Malta on holiday.
Malta is a resting place during the migration of tens of thousands of birds on
their route from Europe to Africa and back. There are 12,000 shooters and
3,000 trappers who kill 2,000,000 (two million!) birds annually. And the
Maltese government appears to turn a blind eye to all this.

Mike's cyber
dream to
improve the
world
An Ashwell man
is
single-handedly
undertaking the
task of making
the world a
better place in
which to live.
Retired
computer
consultant Mike
Buzzard, 62, is
using his
cyber-savvy to
alert the world
to the fragile
state of the
environment
with his
eco-friendly
website at
www.earth-focus.org.uk.
Surfers can log
on to the site
and look at a
number of
different ways
in which they
can help the
environment and
ensure they
live as green a
life as
possible.
"I've been
interested in
how we can get
a better world
to live in for
quite some
time," he said.
"I just want to
do my bit to
try and improve
things.
"The site has a
'news focus'
section, which
is all about
current
affairs, and
there's a part
of it covering
human and
animal rights."
Mr Buzzard has
always wanted
to better the
world, and was
inspired to get
the website off
the ground when
he read about a
19th-century
Scottish
newspaper
called The
Highlander and
the impact its
founder made on
farmers'
rights.
"I read about a
man called John
Murdoch who
campaigned for
the crofters,"
he said,
referring to
farmers in
Scotland who
would rent the
land they
worked.
"The English
landlords were
turfing people
off their land
and the people
were almost
slaves."
Murdoch
eventually went
bankrupt, but
the ideas he
helped
disseminate in
his paper gave
rise to new
legislation
protecting
farmers.
"I realised if
that could
work, then
something like
a website
focusing on
various ways of
improving the
world was the
thing to do,"
he added.
Mr Buzzard's
site aims to
provide food
for thought,
offering access
to information
about other
groups
concerned with
green and
ethical living.
It also has a
'Your Focus'
section, which
allows visitors
to voice their
own thoughts,
concerns and
feedback about
Earth Focus
itself.
"I see it as a
gathering
together of
ideas, with
links to other
organisations
like Friends of
the Earth and
Amnesty
International,
as well as
Ethical
Junction and
Boycott Bush,"
he said.
"If people are
interested in
the things they
read about,
they can join
in and
campaign."
The website has
not been
officially
launched yet,
and has yet to
be submitted to
any search
engines, but it
is already
online.
"I'm hoping to
launch it at
the end of this
month," he
said. "I hope
it will make a
difference
because I'm not
just doing it
for fun."

Heather Small -
"Proud"
A great song
- covering much
of what Earth
Focus is about.
See the verse
"We need a
change.
Do it today.
I can feel my
spirit rising.
We need a
change.
So do it today.
'Cause I can
see a clear
horizon."
Heather sung
this song at
the closing
ceremony of the
Commonwealth
Games in
Manchester, UK.
I found it very
moving.

I look into the
window of my
mind
Reflections of
the fears I
know I've left
behind
I step out of
the ordinary
I can feel my
soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me
now
And you can do
the same
What have you
done today to
make you feel
proud?
It's never too
late to try
What have you
done today to
make you feel
proud?
You could be so
many people
If you make
that break for
freedom
What have you
done today to
make you feel
proud?
Still so many
answers I don't
know
Realise that to
question is how
we grow
So I step out
of the ordinary
I can feel my
soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me
now
And you can do
the same
What have you
done today to
make you feel
proud?
It's never too
late to try
What have you
done today to
make you feel
proud?
You could be so
many people
If you make
that break for
freedom
What have you
done today to
make you feel
proud?
We need a
change
Do it today
I can feel my
spirit rising
We need a
change
So do it today
'Cause I can
see a clear
horizon
What have you
done today to
make you feel
proud?
So what have
you done today
to make you
feel proud?
'Cause you
could be so
many people
If you make
that break for
freedom
So what have
you done today
to make you
feel proud?
What have you
done today to
make you feel
proud?
What have you
done today
You could be so
many people?
Just make that
break for
freedom
So what have
you done today
to make you
feel proud?
