Launch of Earth Focus

Bringing together ways of making the Earth a better place to live in

8th October 2002

Today is the launch of Earth Focus, a web site that brings together the various ways we can all help to make the Earth a better place for everyone - and every thing - to live in.

Hopefully it will be useful for everyone who asks, “What can I do to help?”

Covering the subjects of:

bulletSustainable Life - everything about helping to improve our environment
bulletRights - human and animal rights
bulletConflict - the opposite of Peace.  Of course, we should all be striving for peace.
"To jaw-jaw is always better than war-war"
, said Sir Winston Churchill in a speech at the American White House 27 June 1954
Conflict Resolution.  What is it?  Why isn’t it used more?
bulletEthics - what is/are ethics and morals?  Do our leaders have good ethics? Or not?

Earth Focus also brings you:

bulletNews Focus - the latest relevant news, updated daily
bulletYour Focus - the chance to have your say
bulletDigressions - a choice of related stuff to make you smile (Perhaps this item should be called Blur - the opposite of Focus!)

Mike Buzzard, the originator, owner and designer of the Earth Focus web site, says:
"I am just an ordinary person interested in my surroundings and I want to do my bit to try to improve things in the world. I have wanted to do something for some time, but didn't know what to do or how to do it!
But in July 2002 I was reading a book which mentioned John Murdoch who, in 1873, started a weekly newspaper in Inverness, called "The Highlander", which he used to promote the ideas of the Scottish "Highland Land League" to support crofters. He succeeded.
So, "The Highlander" became my inspiration for a publication to campaign for ideas to improve the world.  However, in 2002, it had to be a web site.  Now, only three months later, here it is!
